Tunstall forced to miss round 2

10 April 2005

Tom Tunstall was unable to compete in the second round of the British Supersport Championship after the Huddersfield rider contracted an ear infection, which severely affected his balance.

After producing such a strong ride securing 7th position in the opening race on his Hardinge Ice Valley Honda, Tunstall was looking to continue the good form at Thruxton.

Although Tom’s previous results at the Hampshire circuit have been impressive, it was too big a risk to take, at what is the fastest track on the calendar.

Tunstall reflected: "Of course it's disappointing not to be at Thruxton, however anyone could get a virus like this at anytime. It's something that is out of my control, so there is no mileage in getting upset about it. With my confidence on the bike as high as it is at the moment I just can’t wait to get back on it!"

Even after missing the race Tom still holds a top 10 position in the championship, as the team looks to the third round at Mallory Park near Leicester on April 24th.
