Tom
Tunstall and the Hardinge Ice Valley Race Team were in action over the
bank holiday weekend at Cadwell Park, coming away with a respectable
11th place finish, ahead of a busy schedule that includes another World
Championship race next weekend.
Qualifying saw Tunstall placed 14th on the grid after struggling with
set-up and slower riders.
"It was a frustrating session as Im struggling with the bike
not turning well, there are riders who are so much slower that its
dangerous. With Cadwell being such a tight track you only need to come
across one rider to ruin a quick lap, well try to improve the
bike in warm-up and give it my best in the race."
At the race start Tom was up to 11th, making places through the first
few corners. However before the lap was complete the race was red flagged
due to a crash.
Reduced to 12 laps, the restart saw Tom once again getting away well
but unable to stay with the five rider battle for 6th and he crossed
the line in 11th.
"We never got the bike working well this weekend and I did the
best I could with what I had. My starts were good and my times consistent
but just not quick enough to stay with the leading group. Considering
the problems we werent that far away and well be stronger
at the next round for sure."
The next round of the British Championship is in two weeks time at Oulton
Park.
However for Tom and the team its straight across the North Sea
to Assen in Holland for the 9th round of the World Supersport Championship.
"Its our third race at world level this year and Im
really looking forward to it. Ive never raced at Assen before
and Im told the Dutch call the track "The University"
so it should be a challenging weekend. If we can bring back some points
then well have done a great job."
The race draws big crowds including many devoted race fans from the
UK and will be televised live to millions of viewers around the world
throughout the weekend.
